Stutter and Spill is an animated projection. I photographed traditional drawing materials on old dictionary pages in stop motion. I created a a composition for every letter of the alphabet, then tiled them together across two HD channels to create an animated mosaic for projection. My interest in animating and making pictures out of letters and collage material comes out of a deep appreciation for language in all of it’s expressions. I explored animation this way from 2014-2017. The projection and collaged created from the physical material was exhibited by Pazda Butler Gallery in 2015. The Museum of Fine Arts acquired the piece in 2016 and exhibited it in 2021. Below the work can be seen on a single channel, in excerpts as gifs and in documentation of the installations.
